Paula Letang is an award winning singer, songwriter, producer and event coordinator who has achieved great success as the radio host of the former long running French-Creole program Experience Creole, and is now the host of the funk & soul radio program All About The funk on CJRU 1280 AM at Ryerson University. The show can be heard weekly on Friday evenings from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Born on the Caribbean on the island of Dominica, Paula grew up in Canada, and studied both guitar and piano. Influenced by soft rock, soul, funk, country and folk music, she blends these genres to shape her own musical style.
With the French-Creole music group Levitasyon she released two full-length albums, “Nou Ka Woule” and “Ba Yo Sa”, and wrote the Urban award-nominated and Caribbean Award-winning song “Mesaj An Boutey” (Message in a Bottle”) whose video has been viewed more than 180,000 times.
Revisiting her love of funk and neo-soul, Paula is working on a soon-to-be-released EP titled “Rhythms of My Soul” an EP that explores these musical styles.
Three singles from the EP have been released with two charting on the UK Top 30 Soul Charts with Sunshine peaking at #11 (Dec. 2016) and Too Hot peaking at #16. (Feb. 5, 2017) Sunshine also charted #5 and Too Hot #9 on the Teerex Radio Hump Chart, and #14 on the Indie Top 30 Chart.
I’d be Lyin’ is the latest single to make waves. All songs are available at iTunes and cdbaby.com. She is also a member of SOCAN, ASCAP & PRS.
Listen to Paula on All About The Funk on Friday evenings from 5:30 – 7:00 pm (EST) on CJRU 1280 AM or www.cjru.ca as she plays funk and soul classics.
